Every classic horror movie has one thing in common–scary, ominous signs that something bad is about to happen. These scary and unpredictable moments are what makes classic horror movies iconic. 

However, Halloween horror movies’ signs aren’t there for fun. Instead, they give the audience an idea that something terrible is about to happen. Every Halloween horror movie sign is silently telling the character to avoid impending danger.

1. Psycho (Bates Motel Sign)

Psycho is a 1960 American psychological horror-thriller film directed by Alfred Hitchcock. The movie is scary, and Bates Motel is a sign that constantly reminds people of the terrifying episodes that took place there. 

For instance, the neon sign flashing between vacancy and no vacancy gives audiences the impression that Bates Motel is the devil’s den itself. And whoever enters may not be alive to tell the story. 

Norman Bates (the main character) has a serious personality disorder throughout the movie. He constantly switches between his personality and that of his controlling mother. Sadly, Norman Bates killed his mom to carry out the murders. 

 

2. Friday the 13th (Camp Crystal Lake Sign)

The Camp Crystal Lake Sign is a scary sign from the classic movie Friday the 13th. Ordinarily, the camp’s sign is a simple welcome camp for a summer camp. 

Unfortunately, the camp later became a scene of gruesome murders. Now people are scared of the date–Friday the 13th. They believe the day is a bad omen. 

 

3. The Shining (Room 237)

The Shining is a psychological horror thriller movie directed by Stanley Kubrick. Room 237 in the Overlook Hotel is a reminder of the horrible event that took place in the movie most of which take place in Room 237. Anyone who has seen the movie in the past tends to be scared whenever they see the sign “Room 237”.

Nightmare on Elm Street is one of the scariest classic horror movies. Produced in 1984 by Wes Craven, most people that saw this movie were haunted by terrible nightmares.
